About Us





Soutron Ltd was created in March 1989 to support the Sydney software introduced into the UK in 1985 by Sydney Limited. Graham Beastall, Soutron's founder and Chairman was responsible for that systems success in the UK and when Sydney Limited decied to leave the library market he was able to secure rights to continue to support and develop the software in the UK before having to hand it back when ILS came into the UK. Today Soutron continues the tradition of serving solely Corporate Libraries and Information Centres and provides a comprehensive range of services for organisations and firms of all sizes who need library automation services. We like what we do and have no desire to move out of our chosen sphere of activity whatsoever.
Our experience of performing over 1100 installations of corporate library systems since our inception means we have tremendous know how and practical insights into how best to implement systems. The people who make Soutron what it is are all selected from a special library environment and have practiced librarianship and performed senior roles in large global organisations. Our technical chaps are very knowledgeable about Microsoft systems and databases and that is how we have achieved our Microsoft Certified status.
We have deliberately set out to create a small specialised team of people, with extensive information management and software experience with the ability to think for themselves. The management structure needed is minimal and communications are more accurate and direct as a result. Exterrnal resources are called upon for specialist services and skills and this allows us to build the right team combination specifically for each client.
We have developed expertise at creating new applications for clients and have a methodology that is proven and produces long lasting robust systems. Service and technical support then become the mainstay of the business and that is where our team excels and is rich in know how.
